This Book Can Change Your Life

Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled “This could change your life” – Helen Exley With World Book Day just gone by and the fact that my life changed with a book too; let me present a ‘must read’ book which can change your life too – “The Magic” A splendid self-help and spiritual book; it teaches 28 magical practices to be followed for 28 consecutive days. The book has been written by Rhonda Byrne, the Australian television writer and producer, much known for her book and film “The Secret”. In 2007, she was featured in Time Magazine’s list of 100 people who shape the world. She gained more popularity after appearing on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. "The Secret" was first released in 2006, followed by “The Power”, “The Magic” and “Hero”. Though third in the series, it doesn’t matter if you have read the earlier books or not. The first book teaches you - how you can get what you want by following three simple steps, “Ask Believe and Receive”, the sec...

Five Things That Ruined My Life

Not long back, I was a ruffled, disturbed and an unhappy being; until I learnt what I should do and what I shouldn’t. Gradually, I fathomed five things that were ruining my life and maybe yours too: 1.       Expectations :  About ten years back, I was a person who had a lot of expectations. My list of expectations was long and penetrating. I expected my brother to take good care of our old widowed mother without realizing that it was my duty too and that we should together strive to make her independent and help her love the out life again. I expected my husband to understand what I needed without even speaking out, as if he had some magical powers and would comprehend my mind. I expected my infants to become a prodigy as soon as possible but that was so until I realized that they were too small and all they needed was love to grow; and understand and explore the world before following their own passion. The day I dropped all my expect...

How Often do we say - Thank You!

How often do we say thank you and really mean it? To God, to people who serve us or to mother nature... How often do we thank God for the eyes we open in the morning? For there are many who couldn't see the brightness of the sun today. How often do we thank God for the air we breathe? For there are many, who are putting a lot of efforts to breathe and there are many again, who just took their last breath. How often do we thank God for the people around us? For there are many who are alone and fighting depression. How often do we thank God for the home we live in? For there are many who have no roof. How often do we thank God for our job? For there are many educated unemployed. How often do we thank our maids, our help and other service providers? For there are many who are in dire need of help but have to manage all by themselves. We are busy complaining and comparing and forgoing happiness ourselves. Today it has been scientifically proven that expressing gratitude ...

Restoring Happiness

Though this blog is all about happiness but all of us experience moments of pain, sadness, worry and sorrow too. The worst moments are those when we suffer with an irreparable loss and land into a world of grief. I can understand and empathise as I have lost my father too and I saw him dying everyday, every moment for about six months in the hospital. But should we close ourselves in a snail shell and live a secluded life (which will lead to despondency, diseases and depression )or should we try to relive, fulfill the dreams of the departed soul and rejoice. The choice is ours. With this, here comes my second story "He is Daddy",which was first published in "Meri Kahani- Nonfiction Anthology of Short Stories". My soul felt nurtured, relieved and healed once I had penned this real life pain followed by miracles of my life. He is Daddy Daddy was an amazing father, full of adventure and enthusiasm, always available for his little girl. His work ...
